.In the yesterday’s post, I noted that one way to increase search engine ranking of your site is to increase the number of backlinks coming into your site.
So how do we increase backlinks to your website? One method to increase backlinks is through the use of article submissions. The basic concept is that you submit an article to an article directory and they post a link leading back to the location of your article on your website. Simple.
There are many article directories including ezinearticles.com, buzzle.com, suite101.com, articlebase.com, wetpaint, zimbio.com, hubpages.com and the list goes on. There are literally hundreds of article publishing sites. The more of these sites that you can submit your article to, the more backlinks you can get. However, there is an issue with duplicate content. If you submit the exact same article to several article directories you could get rejected. If they see duplicate content out there on the web they could block you – that is, not accept any future articles from you.
Duplicate content is also dangerous from the search engine perspective. Search engines do not like to see duplicate content – and this would definitely decrease your rankings. This is where we explore the side of article submissions that gets kind of morally hazy. The acceptable wisdom on avoiding duplicate content is to spin the article.
Spinning Articles
What is spinning an article? Well, in simple terms, spinning an article refers to changing enough words or phrases around so that it seems like a different article without losing the sense of the article. Doing this yourself can be pretty time consuming (and by my thinking you might be better off just writing a whole new article!).
However, you can use software to help do this. SENuke, for example, will do the spinning for you and come up with many different articles out of just one original. There is even free software that will spin articles for you like Simply Free Article Spinner. You could also outsource your article spinning as there are firms that will spin your articles for you – like HumanSpinners.com and SpinProfit.com.
Submitting Articles to Article Directories
So you have created a useful article and spun it to get several unique versions of it. How do you submit all these different versions to the article directories? Well, most article directories require that you have an account with them in order to submit an article. And again, having several accounts is the goal. So you can go manually and create several different accounts. Or you can again use software to help you with account creation. You can do a search to get a list of the newest account creation software. SENuke also has a module to create accounts almost automatically.
So at this stage you have created your article, spun it, created your different accounts with the article directories and submitted the various versions of your article to them. Your article is approved and you get tons of backlinks to your website.
